Bobby Ray has been singing and writing music for over 40 years. He grew up in Youngstown, Ohio and spent much of his time singing/playing in church. He's been a part of several bands over the years, his most notable being Penitent Heart in the 90's. He plays 20-25 times each month, as well as hosting two of his own songwriter rounds.
Bobby Ray's greatest influence is Johnny Cash. Folsom Prison Blues was the song that inspired him to learn to play guitar. At four years old he would play that song for dimes. His other influences include Simon & Garfunkle, Bruce Springsteen, James Taylor and REO Speedwagon.
